A Better Alternative to Cleaners.

I was a lifeguard ... (looking all hot and skinny) and would go down to the pump room to check on the Chlorine. When I smoked after working in the pump room the taste would be ruined with the taint of bleach. It would last for hours. To this day I hate the smell of Bleach; triggering my brain with a nicotine fit of withdraw. Chemicals are powerful. They are all around us. I just mentioned two of them. My cancer stick being filled with them,  chlorine, and bleach...Look around you right now. I bet you can see something that is a chemical. Ajax, Windex, Chlorox, Lysol, Fabreeze, Dishwashing Liquid, you get the point. Most of these have things called "irritants" in them, which is why your eyes may burn, or you feel your lungs itching.

 Irritants:
•  Chlorine (bleach)
•  Ammonia
•  Hydrochloric acid
•  Monochloramine
•  Mixing bleach and acid or ammonia
•  Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda)
•  Quaternary ammonium compounds
• Monoethanolamine

Irritants also cause Adult Asthma. I dont have asthma- cause I'm tough. My baby however, isn't tough... nor is my two year old. Everything my two year old touches gives him some sort of rash. Even certain kinds of soap. He's my sensitive guy and because of him being so sensitive I became hyper aware of what he was touching and what he was coming into contact with. Chemicals, Irritants, Cleaners, Detergents, fragrance, it was everywhere.

So I started researching alternative cleaning agents. The top three are:

Baking Soda
Vinegar
 Lemon

I bet you have these in your kitchen. If you don't go get some. It will cost you about $5.
There is no need to go and pay $5 for a bottle of chemical waste that makes your floors and tiles glow green with harmful chemicals. What I'm about to tell you will make you and your bathroom shine. No more skin allergies, no more coughing up a lung, no more skin irritations, AND you will save a ton of money.

When I mop my floor I take a hot bucket of water, cut two lemons in half, squeeze the juice in the hot water, I then take the squeezed lemons and roll them in Baking Soda and throw them in the hot water. I  mop with it, it smells like pledge and does a great job cleaning my floor. It cost me less then a dollar to do it, and it was organic, green, and friendly. I can also let my baby crawl around on that floor without his hands getting hot, red, and blistered. I use the same thing on my countertops. I don't have to worry about my food touching the counters anymore- it's safe.

I also have a great spray bottle that is filled with water. I spray it on my counters, and it cleans up anything stuck to the counter just as good as any cleaner.
Spray bottles are a must. I love them.. especially the kind that gives off a fine mist.

Here are some other uses and how to use them:

Baking Soda: pot scrubber, hand cleanser, deodorant, toothpaste, fire extinguisher, Antacid, Facial Scrub, Body Exfoliant, and Insect Bite Remedy. Just take some of it and make it into a paste or dilute it in some water and spray. Easy. Here are some more uses. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/51-fantastic-uses-for-baking-soda.html

Vinegar:  Has over 150 uses... I don't like the smell of it. But I recently just made the hubster dump a bunch of it on his scalp to rid his dandruff. It worked. I can't name all the uses but I can give you a website and a broad base of things you can use it with. In the Garden, On Bugs, Animals, Cars, Tools, Health, Beauty, Laundry, Clothes, In the Kitchen and in the bathroom. You basically just mix it with Water or add some baking soda, or put it on directly depending on what you want to use it with. This website will tell you how: http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/homemaking/vinegar.html

Lemon: Also has a ton of uses. I use it to clean my wood floor, to get something sticky off my hands, in my tea when I have a sore throat, to lose weight, to whiten teeth... the list goes on. A more broad spectrum of uses include, Lubricant, Aromatherapy, Antiseptic/Deodorizer, Glass and China Cleaner, Air Freshener, Microwave Cleaner, Whitener, and Garbage Disposal maintenance. You can check out this website if your interested in more lemon ideas. http://www.almanac.com/content/household-uses-lemons

My personal favorite is Hydrogen Peroxide. I use it for everything. I gargle with it for a minute, I put it on cuts, it gets rid of blood stains, I dip my toothbrush in it to sterilize it, I wash my counters with it, its great for the chopping board after using raw chicken, it kills bacteria and salmonella, It's wonderful. I buy it in bulk.

When I worked in the barn I would get chronic bronchitis and cough from the dust and cold. The only remedy that I found worked better then amoxicillin was OIL OF OREGANO. This stuff is amazing. I buy a small bottle of it from Whole foods and put about three drops of it under my tongue or in a shot glass of hot water. It gets rid of my cough in a day and eases my sore throat. It's anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic. It's wonderful stuff. Only use it when you are sick though. A little goes a long way. It can also be used for Arthritis due to the heat it pulls. This stuff actually works, and has worked for everyone that I have given it to. No joke.

Some other great natural remedies are:

Sore Throat:
one Tablespoon lemon juice followed by a spoonful of honey.

Stomach Ache: chamomile, ginger, peppermint tea work well
-suck on a raw lemon
-add ginger to your diet
-eat yogurt with live cultures.
-chew on a mint leave or suck on a mint candy.

Allergies:
-Eat Bee Pollen.
-Stop using chemicals

Anyway, these things really do work, and I hope they work for you too. There is no need for harsh cleaners. There are ways to fight bacteria and dirt in natural ways. You don't even need to pay extra for "Organic Cleaners" because most likely they are in your home already.

All very bad for you.. Toxic crap that hurts you not helps you.
I use it on everything!

Best stuff in the world. Oil of Oregano. This stuff is the best I find. Oreganol. Its strong, so make sure to water it down if you dont like spicy.
Bee Pollen helps with allergies. Take a teaspoon of it a day to cut down on seasonal allergies.
